E-Invoicing is Coming to the UAE: Is Your Business Ready?
The Shift to Digital Invoicing
Following the global trend (and Saudi Arabia's successful implementation), the UAE Ministry of Finance has announced the development of a national E-Invoicing system.
What is E-Invoicing?
E-Invoicing is not just sending a PDF via email. It involves issuing invoices in a structured electronic format (like XML) that can be automatically processed by the buyer's system and, eventually, reported directly to the tax authority in real-time.
The Timeline
While the exact mandate dates for Phase 1 are still being finalized by the MoF, the rollout is expected to begin in phases starting in 2025/2026.
How to Prepare
Businesses using manual Excel sheets will face massive disruption. The best way to prepare is to transition to cloud accounting software today.
Ledgerly is built on modern, API-first architecture, ensuring that when the UAE E-Invoicing mandate goes live, your system will be updated automatically to comply with the new structured data requirements without any disruption to your business.
